  • Damn 89 octaine? My 385 is 10.5:1 and it wants premo gas big time. My timing sweet spot is around 36/37 and it spark knocks without good gas. I'd run 100 octaine if they still had it at the pump. What's your secret? Or do you think i'm runnin to much timing. I worry about detonation.

  • @hpjunky70

10.5:1 is your problem, we never never go over 10:1 with steel heads unless you want to run 100 octane all the time. Timing 36 Degrees max and set your advance curve. Running the higher compression and having to take timing away from the engine will cause hotter EGT's and will loose more power than if you just lowered the compression on the lower octane gas and ran normal timing.

  • I have a 72 camaro and the 350 just isnt doing it for me, would this be a better alternative?

  • @ItsTricksta

Yes, this would most definitely wake that 72 Camaro

  • will it fit in an 82 RX 7??

  • @MINI14ification

Yes, i have seen them installed in the RX7

  • what is the intake runner cc ?

  • WTF are "Steel" heads? And screw "202" heads - they are a marketting scam. The size of the intake valve means next to nothing next to chamber size, port volume, and port shape, and port flow.

  • @ItsTricksta put a set of 202 aluminum heads and it will do enough

  • That's a pretty good motor. Nice RPM range for the street with plenty of top end power.
