Heres the script

Good Morning Good Morning, judges teachers and our beloved audience. welcome to choral speaking 2009. Today we represent ourselves to bring out the voices of young students who live in this era. And now, we bring you " Woes of Students"

We were born like pieces of clay in the hands of sculptors
Today we are adolescents, fully grown up human beings
But still nobody understands us
Our parents, our teachers and so on and SO ON

At home and in school we are conditioned to learn and study
It started before our formal schooling days
Rught from the kindergartens
And surely it will go on untill Doomsday

The Push to be superbly successful, irrespective of the cost,
Seems to be the motto of the day What is happening in our children's world?
Which are imposed upon them by their parents

One of the greatest worries among our adolescents
Is failing to live up to parental expectations
Parental dissatisfaction and dissapointment with their children's results
Is by no uncommon

Some of us are competend
Some are not
Some will get straight As
Some will get straight Es
Some will happy
Some Will cry
Is this what you call 'life'?

Just look at those who failed
Some had even taken their own lives
Who is to be blamed?
Who is to be blamed?
Students or Parents?
It's a pity that no one cares

Who is giving us pressure and stress?
And do they know the consequences that stress brings?
We're sick, fed-up and really bored
All work and no play, that's what Jack says

Cheating and lying to attain one's goal
Is common practise among the young these days
No more morality and no more dignity
What they want is recognition from society

Teenagers turning to drugs for excitement
Solace and escapism
The ills which come along with the benefits of progress
Who is to be blamed?
Who is to be blamed?

Many adults are ignorant
Of the many challenges
Confronting today's children
The fight to be kingpins in the academic arena has its casualties

Countless youngsters may not run away from parents
Psychologically, they are divorced from their parents
The loving and caring is not on the child
But on his achievement

Many parents today are mere physical provoders
Not care providers
Most don't understand our problems
They just want names for themselves

Many of our parents only think of intellectual potential
Mentally, emotionally and morally they forget
We are being focused to intellectual pursuits and achievements
And nothing else is more important than that

From year one our bags are full of books
Which are too heavy for our little bodies
But who cares?
Nobody dares to make any fuss

In school the same thing happends again
We are expected to do well in exams
To make the percentage go up, to give our school a good name
Is this what you call EDUCATION?

What we want is True Education
Not just merely knowledge
Oh Parents... Oh Teachers...
Don't just spoon-feed us with knowledge

So... Parents and Teachers
Give us a break
Understand us... Educate us...
Not just merely teach us

After school comes tuition
And after tuition comes revision
Mondays to Sundays and School Holidays
And so they say untill Doomsday

Let us tell you what is Doomsday
Monthly Test, Mid-year Exams, End of year Exams
UPSR, PMR, SPM, STPM and so on
Are getting As the most important thing in life?

Some of us have goals
So do not
They are unsure of the direction they would like to pursue
Are these the fruits of Education?

Or maybe we have forgotten something
Our Education Philosophy
To create a balanced person in all aspects
Not just excell in studies

So parents and teachers
Understand us, think of us
Let us be our normal selves
Let us lead our normal livess

We repeat
Parents and Teachers
Understand us, think of us
Let us be our normal selves
And let us lead our normal lives

We have the desire to succeed
To become usefull and worthwhile persons
Ti be respected and to contribute to society
And make our own lives happy

-End-

  • lol, coss im 1 of the dudes whom are helping the choral speakers.... was filming these for good old memories :)

  • very well done, "speaking choirs" are known everywhere in the world. Learning how to do things together, as a group, is an essential part of education.

A bit boring though, there should be some movement and action.

And I admire the audience for their patience ... although one particular individual seemed to be very hungry :-) and another one needed an urgent repair of clothes?

Was it filmed in a chinese theater?

    Greetings from Belgium!

    PB
