This water is held in place with atmospheric pressure pushing on the surrounding pond water. The Maximum lift of water is about 10 meters with regular air pressure. This is how mercury barometers worked.

TWO valves can allow for lift without losing much water.

  • How is it that you have all the free time to do these experiments? I must know!! I want infinite free time and lots of value with which to experiment.

  • @derman077 Free time is when ever I am not working:-) We don't really do much else.

  • This is a cool proof of concept, Dan. But once you release the water lock it will need to be air vacuumed out wouldn't it? Otherwise atmospheric pressure won't be able to clear the water out from the top. Either way it seems as if the overall energy needed would be a lot less than, for example, using a vacuum to lift objects on their own.

  • @joshcryer Lock on top about 80% up. Lock on bottom opened w/top closed, object raises to bottom of top lock, bottom closed then top opened. Object floats above the top valve. Close top open bottom start all over.

  • Now Dan, find something that will keep corrupt banksters and governments at the bottom of the water forever. Then you'd have yourself something there than would make you a rich man. :)

  • we might see elevators in dubai workin with that concept soon :)

  • @GREENPOWERSCIENCE it does seem obvious (: great vid!

  • I am thinking you send multiple plugs up at a time and the bottom plug acts as the seal for the plug above it. I have puzzled over how to use pressure and gravity gradients to produce power before and this video gave me a lot of food for thought , thank you.

  • Nice music at the end :D

  • Great video, gona show this trick to my niece :)

  • First I think elevator, then... space elevator!!!

  • Dan what happened with this experiment?

  • best channel on youtube!

  • a good idea would be to somehow inject the object into a closed cylinder, thus creating extra volume, which would make the water rise, then the level could be stay constant after the object is removed at the top..

  • We are now waiting to the video with valves attached, how long before you will do that one?
