Wow that sucks. If you decide to go into the armed forces MAKE SURE you join the coast guard. The USCG is actually considered a federal law enforcement agency now that they are part of the Dept of homeland security, and they have a lot of maritime law enforcement positions.
Seriously, coast guard is the way to go if you want to get into law enforcement when you get out...local, state, or federal.
I would have joined the USCG myself if it weren't because...well its a long story. Good luck.

I was disqualified in backgrounds due to the fact that I was fired from a job 2 years prior. Dumb I know. I am now thining about going into the military and doing some police work to up my resume and give me some overall experience.

I plan on becoming a cop in southern CA myself, though I've decided to be a local.

All that I have come in contact with have been great. I have been through the ringer with the CHP hiring process and even then, the guys were awesome. I cant wait to be one of them.
