  • solar panels are a hassle to keep. They require a lot of monitoring and cleaning at least 3 times a week or you will be throwing your money out.

  • somebody told me you have to pay taxes to keep it each year. true or false.

  • (; wats

  • Batteries for a solar power system cost around $250 ea. They can last for 15 yrs. but that is only if you maintain them at a no less 50% of capacity so you will need over 50 batteries.

  • Off Grid means 80% of the energy comes from Propane. You cant run a stove, heater or washer/dryer off of solar power.

  • A solar power system for your home will cost over $25,000. It will only have 4 hours of useful sunlight during the winter months at 37 Deg. N Lat. You can at best save around a $1000/Yr on your electric bill. If you invested the $25,000 in a income fund you would get a return of around $1,200/yr.

  • For everyone who keeps asking about the price:

Take your yearly electric bill, multiple it by 7. That's about the price. Each system is customized to fit the homeowners needs. This is for Long Island, not sure about the rest of the country.

Average system on Long Island cost about $14,000 after incentives and rebates.
