Male Speaker: The Medical Assistant Patient Care Technician program at Central Florida Institute will help prepare you for an exciting new career in the healthcare industry. As a patient care technician you will learn essential skills such as how to take a patient's vital signs, respiration, blood pressure, temperature and record that information on the patient's medical chart.

Amy Lehrer: We learn the total care of patients, how to assist them, how to care for them, how to take care of their wounds, and total customer service - making sure that the patients feels comfortable and cared for.

Male Speaker: These essential skills can allow you to work in a variety of settings such as family practice offices, hospitals, outpatient care centers, nursing homes, and many more but the variety and options don't end there.

Amy Lehrer: Well the opportunities are endless because in the program that I'm in, because it is a dual license being a medical assistant and a patient care tech, I'm also learning a small amount of billing encoding, I'm learning front office skills if I should decide that I want to change my mind and work in a doctor's office instead of a hospital. We've also learned cardiovascular and pharmacology and phlebotomy. So if you go through what's required for your phlebotomy you can also go on and get your phlebotomy license. So there are obviously a lot of different opportunities.

Male Speaker: Whether being a medical assistant, patient care tech is your goal or a stepping stone to a more advanced degree, Central Florida Institute will help you get started in a new and exciting career.
Amy Lehrer: So I decided to come for the Patient Care Tech program because I'd like to continue my education and become a nurse. And by coming for the Medical Assistant Patient Care Tech program I'm able to get my foot in the door, to be able to go and hopefully work at a hospital which is where I would like to end up, and continue on my education.

Male Speaker: Central Florida Institute prides itself on being not just a school but a partner in your education and success.

Amy Lehrer: I definitely feel like we're part of kind of like a family here. There's no doubt in my mind that I'll be back to visit my teachers after I graduate and go off just to keep them abreast on what I'm doing and how I'm advancing because they're all very interested in helping you advance yourself and interested in what you want to do in the future, not just here to teach you today and get you out the door and get rid of you, you don't get that feeling at all here.
