On July 16, 2009, the High Altitude Solutions (HAS) team made its third launch from Lawton, Michigan. Our maximum recorded altitude was 93,708 feet. After chasing through the back roads of Michigan, we finally recovered our payload outside of Litchfield.

The HAS team's goal is to provide a sustainable high altitude testing platform for the Student Space System Fabrication Lab (S3FL) and the Michigan NanoSat Pipeline (MNP). In the first week of August 2009, we will fly our first scientific payload for the RISE team!

  • But besides the camera, whoever did the editing for this did an awesome job, and this vid's pretty incredible.

  • WICKED COOL! Congrats team! Very satisfying, as an amateur rocketeer, this is one of the holy grails of our science. Great job, great video!

  • Interesting the camera and balloon were still rotating pretty good up to the point it exploded - I wonder what wind there is at 93000'?

  • This is cool, how do get involved with this???

  • Yeah really what dumbass set up the camera...

  • the few frames around 2:50 show the balloon popping in great detail - beautiful!

  • 2:40 is when it gets quite beautiful.

    Then, a satifying POP! and that moment of zero velocity before the homeward plunge.

  • Visibility = 2%

    Dizzyness = 100%

  • I am very consarned for the safety of the pilot.
