Ok I have a condenser mic and a presonus audio box and a mic cable everythings connected but I can't figure out how to put it in ableton live. Any chance you can help?
The power in a condenser mic is not used to create a magnetic field. It is used to power the preamp in the mic, and to set up an electrostatic charge on the element. "Condenser" is an old term for a capacitor. What you have in a condenser mic is a capacitor where the sound waves moves the plates, changing the distance between the plates, thus changing the capacitance. The preamp picks up the signal generated by this change, amplifies it, and sends it down the cable.

Thanks for this video! I've read about the way microphones work in books and websites, but you've explained it more understandably than others!
