Argentina's president has reiterated her country's historical claim to the Falkland Islands, three decades since the war with Britain over these remote islands in the South Atlantic.

Cristina Kirchner compared the claim to the islands with the Palestinian desire for statehood.

While Argentina lost the war, it has never given up its sovereignty claim over what it calls the Malvinas Islands.

Al Jazeera's Lucia Newman reports.

  • @aminah487 It is NOT like Argentina claiming the isle of Man...think about it.......=)

  • @dark108x

Spain took canary by force.... it does belong to the countries nearby.... did morrocco claim spanish or greek islands.... its unfair

  • its like Argentina claiming isle of Man...... That is how it is.

The whole world support Argentina in their quest to their territory(Malvinas) back, just look at the map, its so close to its borders!!!

Britain has no right to this island and it should be a shamed, dont you have enough islands near your country! It is again Imperialism to the highest order.

  • Cristina Fernadez's inability to speak English (the world's only global language), diminishes both her and her nation's stature on the world stage.

  • @VelperK If Argentina colonised and developed an uninhabited island 400km from the coast of the UK, then yes, I would respect their claim. I'm curious, do you also have problems with Spain's claim to the Canary Islands (closer to Morocco) or France's claim to Saint Pierre and Miquelon (off the coast of Canada)?

  • @ashyk72 ok then so i guess we have nothing more to talk about, have a good day.

  • @VelperK and unfortunatly thats the fact that will always divide us, and always has,

whatever my point of views are they are only aimed at your government or uk haters never the people with genuine points of view.

  • @ashyk72 i agree on that first part, but not in the impossibility of not beign able to negotiate the malvinas sovereignity...

  • @krackersdave ...of make us seen as evil and you the saviour from earth, and very used by politicians respect to others and stuff. but i won't fall on it hahah... that's a pure fallacy in wich just idiots get.

  • @krackersdave how many times must i say that statement is wrong? i won't repeat it, so you should check some pages before what i think about it. yes you did established the first "proper" colony after you kicked our asses out of there, no discussions here :D

oh poor guy... we are so bad D: sorry for all we have made to the world including you, argh, what an empire we are... colonizing everywhere... IIRC we had some plans for colonizing some parts of africa hmm... LOL. that's a good strategy...
