'' Believe is a verb that is literally tattooed on me...'' Fernanda Fontenele
The youngest of two brothers, I was born in 1986. It wasnt until I was 17 that something happened so I could understand the meaning of life. In a car accident in 2003 my spinal cord broke high in the cervical spine area, and I was diagnosed as a quadriplegic. From all of the difficulties that came along I learned the real meaning of having faith. I especially understood that I had to do my best in physiotherapy. After some time and a lot of effort, my arm movement started to come back and a little bit of feet movement as well.
Today, 5 years later, even with all the improvements, it is still necessary to have a lot of dedication to get where I want. Only amongst the difficulties, and only with them, could I have got stronger and become the person I am today.
As nothing in life is a coincidence, an opportunity was shown to me: a physiotherapy treatment in San Diego, California. As soon as I found it I realized it was a unique and innovative method. I knew it was the only way to continue searching for my recovery and get where I want to be so badly!
The high treatment cost made me think it would be difficult but I decided to strengthen my fight for something that I believe is the only thing that is missing to make me walk again; because of courage and will of winning I have plenty. This video is a way to show that, with all the improvements achieved, my body is answering very well to the stimulus. Therefore, this treatment is essential for my recovery.
An hour of the treatment costs U$ 100 dollars. Adding lodge, flight tickets, transport and other bares, it will be necessary U$55.000,00 dollars for 6 months of treatment. The cost is really high, but there is definitely no price to make a dream come true.
Well, I believe in it. Do you?
