I like to put a tube preamp in the mix like a reference Audio research. Im still loving my B&W Matrix 802's with a Classe 24 amp and Audio research LS-7 pre

I used to own a pair of B&W 802 Matrix speakers with a nice power amp, Pre-amp, cables and when I switched to a pair of DSP5500 (18 bit) with some other Meridian equipment, it was night and day difference, I had to pinch myself on how accurate this system was and how I actually started hearing things in the mix that I didn't hear previously. Obviously, B&W has made some vast improvements in the 800 line and I have heard them with Krell electronics, but I wouldn't switch from Meridian.

Better because B&W has to,come out with ways to improve their sound? The problems with the B&W is not just with the speakers having an analog crossover, it is also that they have to have expensive electronics, cables and room placement is critical for them to have optimal performance, meridian uses digital crossovers, Pre-amps, no expensive cables required, and the dedicated power amps are already built in, etc, add Apodising filters, triple buffering, and sampling which B&W doesn't have,

Why can't you compare those two speakers? because one is a DSP based speaker and the other is analog?
-
@FenderRhodes2 I'm sorry, you can't compare B&W's 800 Diamond series to those. The 800s are just way better.

@egj1975 Meh, it's missing the Dali Megaline's.

for the amount of money on a pair of the 800's and top of the line Classe, you could get a pair of meridian DSP8000's or DSP7200's and a Meridian reference CD player and have better audio without tons of cables. Hmmm.
