A hamster's place is in a cage; it's not an animal that bonds with humans and it's not an animal for handling or playing with as they might be hurt...
...For one thing, they have no sense of heights, so they'll fall often.
And they may always bite or engage in any other anti-social behavior, thus subjecting them to the reactions of their human owners.
People get them because they look cute, but don't usually know much about them or they'd get other, more sociable pets instead...
