Its not a sail. I met an old woman i town while back,she seemed crazy in alot ways i guess to most people. She sang to me and to those who would listen,i was the only one.This part i HEARD. They fought and died for,she then said nothing.
Flower of Scotland was the song,she was correct Incongra.Just people dont listen.

@incongra Very comprehensive answer - thank you. There are of course, a number of other cemeteries like this in France. The casualty list is enormous and the number of mass graves or trench burials higher than 1st meets the eye. A neighbour of mine lost his father at Wancourt - a frequent site of battle. There are hundreds of Germans and allied troops buried there too I understand.

I note that there is a lot of free space here for more dead bodies.

@leloby No, I obtained a plan of the cemetery from the Commonwealth War Graves commission. The area perceived as being empty, is in fact a trench burial of German casualties. This is a result of particularly heavy fighting very close to the village on 18/19 Sept 1918- (only 53 days before the Armistice)
