I've been collecting movies on DVD, laserdisc, VHS, and now blu-ray since 1984. I have over 2000 titles. I have probably watched over 40%, but there are certainly more that I have not watched. Some I saw in the cinema, but never got around to watching again. Some I've only watched in part. I even have 3 movies rented right now that I will watch before so many more in my collection. Like you I have many unread books too. But I can watch them anytime...and that makes me happy.

Hey Indiephantom, thanks for commenting. Sorry for the delay in responding, I wish I could say that I was off watching DVDs, but I was mostly wasting time doing nothing. Lol

It seems that many of us movie people buy at least as many, if not more, DVDs than we ever watch...but it beats the alternative of not having them when we finally get in the mood to, eh?

I'd say roughly 20-25% of my collection is stuff I haven't got around to watching yet. But to be fair, a lot of what I collect are TV shows, so there's definitely a bigger time commitment there than just a few movies. Plus being a new parent means a bit less spare time (though the little one does like a lot of Daddy's fave cartoons!) :) At least as things are I know I won't be needing cable again any time soon!

My nephew used to live with us, and I really miss him. He is a great guy, of course, but I also miss being able to use him as an excuse for watching stuff when people would try to look down their noses at some of the films and shows that I enjoy.

Keep having kids man, make it work for you as long as possible. Lol ;-)

god would say 20 odd % i ant watched yet but somtime im not in the mood 4 a film but its handy to have it till i am if u know what i mean. good video

Yeah, convenience is a legitimate factor to consider. It's nice to be able to just look on the shelf and find something you are in the mood t watch rather than go out and rent something, see a film, or surf the TV trying to find something.

I have about 150 and many of them I have seen and bought just because I liked them. I watch about 3-4 films a week but of mine I have seen about 75% of all of them but that's not counting burned films. Great question.

Just saw that you wrote another comment that I had not seen yet. You're right, there is just so much entertainment all around us today that it overwhelms us. On the other hand we all have less and less time free time to enjoy entertainment.

I used to buy DVDs of only things that I had seen, but since I started shopping for bargains, it is actually cheaper for me to sometimes buy a DVD blind rather than renting it to check out first.
