@robertgift Reger did not write a Fugue to go with this particular toccata, as far as I know--this is a stand-alone piece.

A beautiful cathedral!
Long live the Queen!

isnt it interesting how the biggest organ in britian happens to be located in beatletown?

.....da noi ..polvere ,ragni, abbandono e incuria...
e tanti stronzoloni....

In response to robertgift's question: where is the fugue?, years ago, I bought the tape of this recording. It was called "Toccata!". In the same way, only the toccata of Boellmann's Suite Gothique, the toccata of Bach's BWV565, etc. were on the recording.

sorry for the sound
(mishmash and midnight pipes don't allow even slight criticisms.
they delete valid posts)

@a55b47 this organ has the largest console
this one is larger than St Paul's?

@steelersfanhawaii St. Paul's is the fifth largest in the UK. In order: Liverpool Anglican Cathedral 194 ranks, Royal Albert Hall (London) 177 ranks, St. George's Hall (Liverpool) 140 ranks, Royal Festival Hall (London) 137 ranks, St. Paul's 136 ranks. Info. courtesy of Martin Doering's Die Orgelseite -- which I highly recommend.

Don't know. The toccata only was on the recording. I guess you'd have to ask Mr. Rawsthorne, or his record producer.

It would have been good to see Mr Rawsthorne actually playing it!

Agreed. But that would have required having a video camera (non-existent at the time of this recording) in the organ loft ;-)
