I'm learning a new tune a day. Today I learned an Ed Haley tune called Half Past Four. I come from an Irish fiddle background but I'm trying to learn more Old-Time styles. The bowing is bass-ackwards from what I'm used to but the tunes are so pretty. For this one, my fiddle is tuned GDGD

  • this is so good.

  • This is a tricky tune to keep the pulse going. Bruce Molsky does a great version but I'm partial to John Hartford's. Check out his Ed Haley tribute CD called Speed of the Old Long Bow. Right in there.......

  • Ah Really like this - Nice swing and relaxed tempo -

Start's like Cotton eyed Joe, and wee bit like Saddle up the Grey in the second part.

But mighty in its own right - Well Played too !
