After staging 60 Climate Hearings around the Country withmore than 100,000 participants, Campaign for Sustainable Rural Livelihoods organized the National Climate Hearing and Baul Somabesh on December 4, 2009 at the Ramana Batamul in Dhaka. More than 200 flok singers known as Bauls gathered at Ramna Park to illustrate the impact of Climate change on the lives of poor people around the country and their struggle for safe and secure livelihood was illustrated through songs and dance. Representatives from the communities affected by climate change also spoke at the event in front of a panel of Judges. After hearing the songs and testimonies judges declared a verdict addressing the international community and Bangladesh Government. They demanded that the international community must act immediately to reduce emission to protect the lives and livelihoods of the poor people in developing countries like Bangladesh. They must sign a fair and just agreement at the UNFCC conference in Copenhagen. They also demanded that the government of Bangladesh must act decisively and swiftly for the establish of rights of poor people around the country.
