@suppernoddypo2k7 eamon de valera was an evil man and should not have been buried in ireland

@gmsm520 The freedom to be a bankrupt slave of the EU, dependent on massive bailouts from the UK and the IMF?
-
@gmsm520 The BRITISH Army AND Government is made up of English, Scottish (the last two UK Prime Minsiters were Scottish), Welsh and Irish (including soliders from the republic today). I would agree many British soliders and British government members have behaved like pigs, but many others have not. Histories/Realities are more complex. It is obtuse to believe everything is straightforward and two dimensional as you sugggest. Are you someone who also believes Braveheart is History?
-
@DRDFOX please, when people like this say english they mean the english goverment who are pigs i am sorry but they are, and they mean the english soldiers who throughout time have showed the utmost intolerence for mercy and any simdge of humanity

and ireland could have followed collins plan and worked toward freedom without the need for violence, i think so many years of english rule conditioned the irish to think that there only option to get what is right is war. because the british never let them have freedom through any other means
-
people have been watching the movie micheal collins -____- de valera did not have collins killed he was overcome with grief when collins was killed. he helped win ireland its freedom. he was a political genious but was also implusive and not military minded at all. i blame him in part for ireland being seperate today because he started the civil war. if he hadnt been so feverously opposed to the treat and let popular vote deside, or even parlimaent vote deside there would have been no war

I am not a fan of Dev in any way shape or form, he knew that Churchill wouldn't and couldn't give back the 6 counties but Dev stood up to Churchill because he knew he was just trying to bully Dev into giving the British back the 3 ports he desperately wanted. This is just my opinion but he also led us from one repressive regime into another (Catholic Church) I'm fully convinced that the iron grip the church had on Ireland began to wane as soon as Dev passed away.

1.You made an offensive racist comment to attack racism (!?) and if you are not stupid you should apologise.
2. The Welsh may be the descendents of the inhabitants of SOUTHERN BRITAIN before the Anglo-Saxons and Danes came there, but if the latter didn't happen it wouldn''t be called "England" or the inhabitants "English" so the comment is illogical. Incidentally, those who refer to themeselves as English, Welsh, Irish whatever are more often now a genetic mix.
@AdamLakeman De Valera signed the book of condolences for Hitler as an assertion of idependence to Churchill and of Britain. Ireland also remained neutral durin the war and it was this that America and Great Britain found to be intolerable, not the act of condolence, and found this so intolerable that Ireland was only forgiven in the late 60's for it. Edward VIII was a fervent supporter of national socialism as well and Churchill was a racist who allowed 4 million Indians to die. Is he you hero.
