David Sterling takes off from the fueling station east of Houston, Texas. This is Part One of David and Steven's Big Texas Air Adventure on December 27, 2007.

The airport we're taking off from is Winnie Community Airport and we're flying to Weatherford, Texas, just west of Fort Worth, to Parker County Airport.

It looks as though you can just stick your hand out the window and grab one of those cars on I-10 as we take off. It was quite the cold day, but the heater in the ol' Cougar kept us nice and toasty.

The day was kind of cloudy until we got north to somewhere around Walker County and then the sun was clear. Nothing metaphorical about that; Walker County generally isn't a sunny place but it's home to SHSU. Eat 'em up Kats!

Apparently, the Winnie, TX airport has the cheapest aviation-grade fuel in the country. I wish I could tell you why, even though I am a jet fuel reporter. Regardless, for more information on energy intelligence and petrochemical pricing, visit www.icispricing.com.
