  • Well the reason for changing the three90 pickups was the fact that the originals only really offered one sound, and not a particularly good one at that. Changing to hand made P90's has made a huge difference to the sound and is now what I want from a semi hollowbody guitar.

I suspect that Vox also were not that keen on the pickups and as sosmooth7 seems so well informed I suspect that you are aware that Vox have changed to the CoAxial pickups that we liked on the Vox SSC33

  • @guitarshak,I was simply saying that the guitar overall had a good sound because I've has occasion to play it. Sometimes, people don't take the time to find out wht the controls are and what they do.Other times people have time and money to spend and don't know what to do with it. If you are happy with the changes that you've made made then so be it! But then I play a variety of music and I like to go from sweet too crunched out,and I need a guitar that I can do it with this one is plenty capable

  • @sosmooth7 Well, the guitar is now for sale on ebay, so we'll have to see if the market agrees with Guitarshak's changes :)

  • I've always been mystified as to why someone would take a fine guitar like the Vox has to offer and simply gut it. For the price that you pay for these instruments, you could get a much cheaper guitar from another manufactor and 'do your thing with it'. I think this guitar is just great the way it's originally made. no on really cares about your questionable electonics 'wizardtry',at least I don't. I don't think you rreally improved this guitar at all!! With your custom electonics doesn't matter!

  • Ouch ! ......those triaxial dimarzios and the electronics of that guitar are major features of the Virage . single coil, p-90 and humbucker all in one pickup, plus both of the single coil modes are humbucking also ! They are according to many online reviews supposed to be great pickups......well I guess different strokes for different folks. ......if you want to sell the original Vox/Diarzio Triaxial pickups, contact me.

  • Love the guitar! I have the sunburst version. But mystified why you changed the pickups and the wiring. The DiMarzio 3-90s are very quiet and sound great, particularly when you combine them. Great for jangly guitar! Matter of taste I suppose. Cosmetically, the black pickup surrounds do look better than the swirly brown though!

  • you seem to be quite misinformed about about the guitar... should probably practice a bit more too!

  • A review for the masses ... lol Informative and down to earth .. i like these videos pls do some more!
