Djembe and talking drum

Come and experience the mystery of West Africa and its music.This drumming camp propels you directly into the heart of West Africas music hub, the capital of Mali, Bamako.

You will have drumming tuition with Ladji 2 x 2 hours every weekday. Additionally, Ladji will take you along with a local drumming band to see authentic Djembe perfomances for events like traditional weddings, namegiving, birthdays etc.

One weekend you will visit the village of Kela, so you can experience West African drumming and traditional Griot music in the context of a small village.

You will stay with Ladji in a comfortable 6 bedroom house (including showers and toilets, not always standard in Mali :-)). 3 mouthwatering meals will be provided by an onsite Malian chef to ensure that you enjoy a wholistic experience of Malian culture.

6-7 June arrival and orientation
8 June workshop starts
12 June excuriosn to village
14 June return to Bamako
15 June workshop continues in Bamako
19 June end of workshop & final performance showcase
of the students for the local community

Price:
6300 ZAR 3150 ZAR deposit by 30. April 2009
(S.AfricanRand) 3150 ZAR equivalent to be paid in cash
in €uro or US$ on arrival

2 weeks intensive drumming tuition with Ladji
3 day excursion to village
participation in tradtional ceremonies and festivities
