What I find amazing is how he bounced right up - the vault sucked but the ability to anticipate the fall and execute a clean recovery is amazing.

Well, in Spain that gesture doesn't mean loser or anything. If that's what he meant, he's a moron, but here in Spain the gesture can only be understood as "I'm number one" or something like that. I agree he should refrain himself from celebrating so much before the competition was over.

He was counting rhytmic gymnastics. This was the first olympic medal in artistic gymnastics for Spain.

I agree with you. It appears as though he was looking at another camera (off screen) or another person off screen and perhaps making some other kind of gesture. Who knows, really? But I highly doubt he would do that. All these gymnasts have tremendous respect for one another.
