My father landed their july 21st. 1944 he was a radioman with the 9th regiment 3rd marine division. His best friend Leo Kwick died in his arms when their L/C was hit. My dad carried that with him all his life. He told me about what the japs did to the civilians, but i wont repeat it here.
I hope to visit guam someday and tour the WW2 sites. Is it at all possible for a civilain to catch a ride to guam aboard a miltary aircraft?

Sadly I do not believe that a trip aboard a military aircraft is possible there but I do know that there is quite a lot of commercial traffic in and out of the island. Most of the memorials are in public areas and are very breathtaking and sobering. Good luck in your aspirations for a visit!

I was fortunate enough on my 2nd trip to have the pilots go all the way around the coast. It was like something out of a dream :)
