  • how sad to see people put so much energy into making sure everyone is NOT equal :(

  • If marriage were just a religious ritual, why does the federal government recognize marriages and state governments issue marriage licenses? If you want it to merely be a religious ritual, then we should ban all state recognition of this institution, right?

Enjoy it while it lasts. 2000: 61-39%, 2008: 52-48% . That's a gap-closing of 18 percentage points. Give us a few more years and we'll have you beat!

  • Gays didn't have the right to marry before and there wasn't much complaining. It was only after they got it, and then lost it that they started to think they deserved it.

  • Proposition 8 wrote discrimination into California's constitution. It should be repealed as soon as possible, so that same sex couples have exactly the same rights as opposite sex couples are granted in California.

  • The "hetro-way"=Going to the gas station and sticking the fuel nozzle into fuel tank opening.

The "homo-way"=Going to the gas station and sticking the fuel nozzle into the exhaust pipe

The homo-way makes the most sense

  • "Prop 8 does not prevent love or commitment- it defines marriage as it has ALWAYS been...between a man and a woman."

That's pretty absurd claim. For thousands of years marraige was a man OWNING one or more women.

Just 50 years ago women weren't legally property but were still treated as such, and interacial marraiges were illegal and it's interesting to note that they used the EXACT same arguments against that as they do against gay marraige.

  • The world is not only listening, but are also disgusted.

  • This is the one issue that really irks me about the right. On pretty much every other issue, the war in Iraq, abortion, gambling, prostitution, prayer in school, etc, they almost always have a valid point of view and rational basis for their opinions. But they have yet to produce any reason against gay marriage except: "the bible says it's wrong" or "gay marriage will destroy America" They have no legitimate reason to be against gay marriage except for their own backward beliefs.

  • It would be equally irrelevant to say I support heterosexuals' right to marry a partner of the same sex. Both conjectures involve things that people just don't do.

Anyone who believes marriage is an unevolving tradition would be wise to avoid dating wealthy and powerful 16th century bachelors. A gal could really lose her head that way.

  • Are gays like a different species? It's like, prop 8 defines marriage for ALL people. No matter what your love interests are. If it were discrimination it would say, hey, since you are gay, you don't have the right to marry even if you chose to marry the opposite sex. They still have the right to marry like everyone else--they choose not to.

Prop 8 does not prevent love or commitment- it defines marriage as it has ALWAYS been...between a man and a woman.
