Francique101, In Buddhism all human beings have the Buddha nature and this imbues them with - Courage, Compassion and Wisdom. So it is quite natural for a person to be concerned about other humans and other organisms. In displaying their concern they are displaying their compassionate Buddha nature.
I find Buddhism has a far more consistent belief system than theistic ones.
If man is simply an organism resulting from Evolution, why should we be concerned about other organisms problems. If man was created by God, then we have a responsibility towards each other as Children of one Father.
