So school's out now and I can finally give you notes! This one was pretty difficult, especially since he talks so fast (sorry if the subtitles are too small!). Lyrics are from the same site as all my other videos, and the translation is me! Enjoy.

1. "I'm going to give them their money's worth" is my best guess.

2. As a fellow Youtuber said on this comment board, he says "a queen" pulls him into the sky because in French queen and reindeer sound the same except one is feminine and one is masculine (une reine versus un renne). This line is playing on the fact that Jack misunderstands some of the things he knows about Christmas.

3. In the next line, he says "sa grotte." Grotte means cave or grotto. One of you helpful Youtubers told me that this is indeed another play on words, this time between grotte and hotte. La hotte de Pere Noel is Santa's sack of gifts and toys and such. Another good play on words. Kudos, French translators!

4. Perce-oreilles is the French translation of Sandy Claws. The French call Santa Pere Noel, or Father Christmas. Perce-oreilles means earwig, which is a type of gross insect, and it sort of sounds line Pere Noel if you say it fast enough. Personally, I thought Pere Noel to Perce-oreilles was a BIG stretch, as opposed to how similar Santa Claus and Sandy Claws are. Any Frenchman is free to disagree.

  • "grotte" is "cave" in english.

  • About "on peut le pendre ?", it doesn't mean "on peut le prendre ?"(can we take it) : it would mean "can we hang it ?"

  • je l'aime <3

  • perce oreille is a bug that was said it could enter inside a ear through tympanum -but it 's false

  • @Arsenal0304 In French, the name of Santa Claus is "père Noël" ("Father Christmas" in English). But Jack misunderstands, and says "Perce-Oreilles" in the French version of the movie.

  • @Melusine2001 And he misundersted the real name; "Santa Claus".

  • perce oreille = sandy claws cause jack ears sandy claws when a child said santa claus. it's a joke =)

  • @pianoking53 Yes, oreille means ear, and perce-oreille means ear wig, which is a bug (the Ooogie Boogie's last bug, killed by Santa).

  • doesn't oreille mean ear?

  • Can you put up the Ending song up
