The Most Rev. Joseph R. Cistone, Bishop of Saginaw, "ruins" the annual "black-tie affair" Bishop's Charity Ball with his cover of Garth Brooks' 1989 No. 1 country hit "Friends in Low Places" on April 29 at the Horizons Conference Center in Saginaw. The song was an encore performance from last year's surprise "Saginaw, Michigan". The 2011 Bishop's Charity Ball was Bishop Cistone's second annual event since his arrival as sixth Bishop of Saginaw in the summer of 2009. Thanks for letting us know what you think of your friends, Bishop! And he never did pass that collection basket around the room :)

  • The friends in low places include Cardinal Bevilacqua in Philadelphia, whom Bishop Cistone sat with in 1994 as they shredded a document about 35 known pedophile priests in the Philadelphia diocese. Those priests were allowed to roam free for 17 years until 2011, and they raped more children.

Cistone could have stopped it, like Jesus Would Do, but instead, he was part of the cover up, and was named bishop a few years later.

  • Loved it!!

  • Lol! Nice!
