My Family and I took a trip to Keystone, South Dakota this Summer to see all the sites in that area and Mount Rushmore was at the top of my list for sure! It is a Beautiful Memorial and to see it in person makes you realize how much work went into it and the size is breathtaking. I love how you can see it from many perspectives as your driving up to it from many directions.

You paid for your car and the ticket they give you lasts a week I think it was and you can come and go as much as you want. We stopped there four times I think it was and if you get the chance you have to see the lighting ceremony at night, Beautiful!

A little more on the Memorial:
Mount Rushmore National Memorial is a sculpture carved into the granite face of Mount Rushmore near Keystone, South Dakota, in the United States. Sculpted by Gutzon Borglum and later by his son Lincoln Borglum, Mount Rushmore features 60-foot (18 m) sculptures of the heads of former United States presidents (in order from left to right) George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. The entire memorial covers 1,278.45 acres (5.17 km2) and is 5,725 feet (1,745 m) above sea level.

The U.S. National Park Service took control of the memorial in 1933, while it was still under construction, and manages the memorial to the present day. It attracts approximately two million people annually

  • that was awesome, your making me want to go to south dakota even more so!!! i really think that is cool how they did that. the four greatest president's this country has ever had!!! one more thing did i read what you wrote the right way, you have to pay to go see this?

  • @nibornna Well you can drive by Mount Rushmore from many directions and see it for free and there is also small places you can stop and take pictures and things while viewing it from the road area. If you want to get as close as the video here though you have to pay to get in. I think it was only $11 for a car and you can come and go as much as you want within a week I think it was.

  • Absolutely beautiful. I've never been there but this video made me feel like I was. Beautifully done! Wonderful music, too.

  • @kim2848 Thank You very much! I'm glad it made you feel you were right there :-) It is a beautiful memorial. The whole area around this is fantastic if you ever get the chance to visit.. Thanks for commenting!

  • Wow! I'm so jealous! It all looks so perfect and clean...almost like you are in a hollywood movie studio filming a replica....I read that this is one of those places one must see for themselves...that cameras can't capture the grand scale of it all:D Thanks for the info...I hope to visit in the near future:))

  • @seahue Your right Seaue... This whole place was very very clean! I did not notice anything on the ground anywhere and did not see anyone walking around picking things up either. I think it is more respect on peoples part that keeps this Memorial clean all around and that is good to see :-) Mount Rushmore is quite a bit different in person than seeing it on film. Like you said you can't get the feeling as to how big it really is, especially when your driving up to it.. Thanks for your comment!
