  • @Aislan4414 I'm in dental school, so I think I might be somewhat able to weigh in. There are multiple studies out that show that we actually get way more mercury from our local water supply and other sources than from amalgam fillings. You should stop using local water in anything, including cooking and brushing your teeth, before getting worried about amalgam.

However...If esthetics is your concern, then I'd steer clear of amalgam for that reason first! :)

  • @feliciatee Yeah it has nothing to do with mercury poisoning, no one cares about that right?

  • @kadpw2 it's not about the money, FYI. Composite costs loads more than amalgam, despite its inferior mechanical properties compared to amalgam. It's just for the sake of aesthetic that ppl prefer composites nowadays.

  • i'm going to school for dental assisting and I have to do this friday O.o

  • Here's the evidence....

    1. Blood levels of mercury in those with amalgam restorations IS NO GREATER THAN THAT OF THOSE WITH NO AMALGAMS.

    2. There are numerous accounts of weird and wonderful illnesses being cured after the patient has their amalgams remove. This goes to show that amalgam IS NOT responsible because when the restorations are removed, you receive a huge dose of mercury!

  • use a flat face condenser to condense the alamlgam over the puplal floor of the preparation to ensure proper leeching of mercury into the patient's bloodsteram so that the patient will suffer years of strange and painful symptoms which his/her doctor's will simply call "ideopathic" in origin because everyone wants to bry their head in the sand ratherr than admit that heavy meatls such as mercury do not belong in the human body at all.

  • @thatkidfrom1991 NO HUMAN NEEDS MERCURY OR ANY OTHER TOXIC HEAVY METAL PLACED IN THEIR TEETH. WOULD YOU LIKE TO EAT SOME FOR DINNER?

  • there has been countless studies that have showed the chances of mercury poisoning from amalgam is pure bullcrap. In the new england children's amalgam trial they even proved that it has neurological no effect on children. All the people yapping here are simple minded idiots that don't know how to read a scientific paper.

Go read vanity fair you retards. The only people that risk themselves in amalgam restoration is dentists, not patients. So only dentists should be allowed to complain.

  • google dr. james Howenstine, MD.

and learn more about root canal and such, you will be very surprised
