I did an arcade stick Soukyugurentai video for the Saturn one year ago. Today it's time for another time change so bring on the Souky stick play!

This actually turns out to be a solid run. I don't want to get your hopes up - I do not 1CC the game, but this is one of my better recent Soukyugurentai plays. I end up swallowing a death on stage 3 when I wasn't paying attention and allowed myself to get lost in enemy fire. Fortunately, it brings the rank down to a more manageable level for stages 4 and 5.

  • Absolutely friggin' awesome man. That boss battle was genius. Video added to favourites. Nothing I like more than seeing some proper skills at work.

  • @futurematt5 Yeah, that fucking tank doesn't scare me anymore. It gives distinct cues as to which attack is coming up, but they are usually too short for you to actually do anything about it. You just have to play enough to develop contingencies and placements for ALL possible patterns. Even then it gets the best of me now and again.

Most importantly, you have to come to an understanding with this boss. There is no quick way to kill him - not even bomb spamming will get you out of this.

  • @dickinson1027 Bel @ whipassgaming answered my question in email. He said,

"Yes, you just go in to the screen options and rotate it. I do it all the time with the laptop(15.7 inch widescreen, I just turn it on its side), playing stuff like RayForce and whatnot.

It's awesome, because you get *so* much vertical screen. There are quite a few games out there that run in this mode, too."

    sweet!

  • i know this is not a TATE mode game, but can monitors like the HP LP2475W and Dell U211H be set up so that you turn them on their side and then play arcade shooters (vertical shooters) in MAME using the full screen perfectly (or nearly so)? Might be fun

  • BTW graphically I really rate that moment at 1:00 when the clouds clear over the canyon.
