Please do a sting on Muni too.. for the graffiti vandalism.

Newer school buses have those retractable light up stop signs attached to their back ends...Why can't MUNI Metro cars have those?

Wait... let us clarify something... at 37 seconds of the video, you say the driver of that van is suppose to stop... however, I read that if there is an island that is the length of an LRV, a vehicle may proceed and pass at 10 MPH. Cars only need to stop if there is no island or an island isn't long enough to allow safe unloading of passengers.

this is a stupid law just like the stupid cops in this video

California is too strict on issues like this. More likely that you would get rear ended by stopping than hit grandma by not. But if California says to do something, you better do it or they are going to fine you two week's pay!

@Brigada510 I know what you mean. I lvie in BC and in Vancouver there's so many asians there

@MaddDogg81 Its in sunset district in SF. Pretty much only Chinese people live there now.

@KendrickSF Great point. And the street cars seem to be new too, so it is just a design flaw :)

@puffpuffin1 doesnt matter. if the train stops and unloads and pick up passengers anywhere, you must stop or else face a ticket. I bet you 100 % that at least once the train will stop at a non safety zone to pick up or drop off a passenger.

just bullshit to raise revenue
-
@KendrickSF 50 dollars to install it and hundreds in lost revenue from fines.

Looks like people are wanting to go to Teaway on 23/24th and Irving lol
I see an issue.. not with the drivers but a decent place for the LRV to stop. Kinda silly to stop in the middle of the street. How safe is that?

@chechnya Maybe they should move the tracks closer to the curb?

At 0:35 and 1:28, the island is long enough to handle passengers getting on and off the train. They should NOT be getting a ticket! Stan, please READ THE ENTIRE Code 21756 again. In part (c), it says "Whenever any trolley coach or bus has stopped at a safety zone to receive or discharge passengers, a vehicle may proceed past such trolley coach or bus at a speed not greater than 10 miles per hour." The miniman was NOT speeding. I hope the SFPD isn't work ordering the MTA with this crap.

@puffpuffin1 Sorry Puffin 1 the concrete island was not not considered a safety zone because there were not any safety barriers to protect the pedestrian ...... and all the sinage instructed drivers not to pass the LRV unlike the designated safety zones that have a 10MPH speed limit sign posted....... I did not pick the location the SFPD picked that location I just shot the video.

@TVman1981 The other day I was driving alongside the middle of one of these streetcars, and it stopped and the doors opened. For a split-second I didn't know what to do, as I was along side it, and they are just so long. Its easy to figure out to stop if you are coming up from behind, but when you are alongside and they suddenly stop and open the doors its not so easy. I ended up pulling up to the stop sign and waiting for the doors to close. Would that have been a ticket?
