I took my MacBook into the Apple Store and sat down at the Genius Bar (I'd made an appointment for after lunch). The problem was not the heat sync, dust getting into the system, a dual boot problem, or a BIOS issue, as some have suggested. It was a cache issue. Apparently, localized system cache has been piling up on my Mac for the past year and a half, and I didn't even know about it. The Genius went in and reset some things, and then saddled me with Cache Out X, which is configured to empty the system cache every time I log in.

  • What else would you expect out of a Mac?

  • I've had this Mac for a year and a half, my iBook for four years, and my iMac for seven. Up until now I've never had a single problem with any of my Macs.

  • Hey i have a question for you. This computer i am using right now is on safe mode cause it has a virus and i need a new laptop for school. I would prefer like a macbook or something small but runs nice and smooth. basically all i need for it is to go on the internet for research papers and any version of microsoft will do. If you know any netbooks that have or can have microsoft word's processor please let me know. Thank you for reading this

  • MacBook Pro 13" runs $1199 to start. I know it's a little steep, but the all-aluminum uni-body construction will help you in the long run in terms of durability over the years.

  • rml, do you have a girlfriend? cause i really think your cute!

  • hey rml, how are you this fine evening, you look very handsome!

  • haha thanks :)

  • NICE DUDE, way to stay on top of your game.lol

  • i completely agree, i just bought this a few months ago, durability is def a plus, also however i for school it prob wont matter much, but screen resolution is amazing. Best buy is the place to buy apple products though, since they offer accidental damage warranty along with manufacture defects. you prob already know this, but in case, your welcome. glad your mac prob was taken care of.

  • yeah i was going to best buy this weekend after doing a little more research lol

  • i agree with rml695, i bought the 13" macbook pro, a few months ago, and durability is def a plus, but if you decide to go apple, buy it at a BEST BUY store, since they offer accidental damage warranty as well as all other manufacture software and hardware problems you may encounter with time if any come up. Apple currently only covers manufacture defects, so if you spill water or drop your laptop, your gonna have to drop another 1200 if you buy directly from apple. Best buy! for iphone also!

  • Good to hear the people at apple got things sorted out.
