GM has been making crap cars for as long as I can remember, initially they look good when you buy them, but have poor longevity far as reliability goes, usally right about the time your warranty expires, 36k miles, all types of things start going wrong, even if you have maintained them well, and will put you in a financial hole, with giant repair bills, and their resale value is bad, because everyone knows they suck.

@scarylemon Wish you all the luck. let us know...

Sue GM. There are plenty of lemon law lawyers that will help you and not charge anything until they get you money. A few years go, just before GM went bankrupt and during really high gas prices, GM began to import lakes of cars and re-badged them as chevy. the aveo is simply a daewoo. Daewoo was a car company that went bankrupt in mid 90's because the public and daewoo themselves knew their cars were shit. the aveo is a very dangerous car designed for a low speed urban environment.

@novalord2 The Gm Mechanics said the strips are fine even after several attempts on our part with return visits to the mechanics so Yes we wrote letters to the CEO's at Gm and not one of them replied! we are tired of the New GM gammot runaround system & loophole excuses, to avoid warranty work, they broke the warranty promise not us.. Why could'nt they just have fixed it???- and the humidity is gross inside, even the gas cap unlock lever attached to drivers seat is corroding and ready to break!

@novalord2 By the way, did you even bother to do a google search on this problem before writing a bunch of letters and hiring a lawyer? Seriously, I was also frightened by this terrible howling problem on my Aveo, but I fixed it with just a little bit of research. In fact, Im almost 100% sure that there is nothing wrong with your roof.
But I am sorry to hear that they have bullshitted you out of warranty repairs. GM does suck.

This is a common problem on Chevy Aveos, but it is because of the weatherstrips on the windows. I fixed this problem on mine by simply replacing it. I really don't think it has anything to do with the integrity of the roof.
GM was going bankrupt so they started a campaign of stealing & cheating. They would sell you a NEW car & make you pay for car repairs. The dealer would always say "cannot duplicate problem" or blame the customer & say they abused the car. So you end up paying for your car payment and the repairs each month. my friend's aveo's brakes wouldn't work and the dealer said "cannot duplicate problem," so he went to a local shop and they said there was a dangerous brake booster vacuum leak. AND 19mpg!

@h8usernames2000 Did you know , when GM went bankrupt -and they did, that they started under a new name " New GM" and the Judge let them buy all old GM stock vehicles, and thats why they give the :loophole excuses" in not honoring old GM warranty repairs- most people don't even realize its a New company because it switched to new name so fast. We are going to court early Feb. I am so looking forward to it!
Stay Tuned...

We drove it to get good video coverage to proove our case, and the speeds in nevada & Texas go as high as 128 KLM and we bought it for travels around North America, The roof howls constant at 110 KLM and itermittently at lower speeds, the mechanic "could not reproduce" so we did it for them and they refused viewing the video. In Canada we are on Metric, Maybe you are American where its miles
