The marshlands of Greenfield creek are so beautiful this time of year, that I had to paint a different view of it. This is a small cove north of the Wonderwood Viaduct, with a cloudless sky. Painted 12-29-07 using acrylics on a 12x16 canvas panel... very windy there, hard to use a stretched canvas. If you know me, you know I like palm trees, so they are made more promenant in this painting.

It was time-lapsed using a Sony TRV25 in INTERVAL mode (1/2 second every 30 seconds).

  • Hello. thank you for sharing your process and talent here. Can you tell me if you struggle at all using acrylics plein air? I am an acrylic painter and getting ready to try some natural landscapes. I really would like to stick to my medium of choice but I've been getting lots of feedback that acrylics don't work outside. Do you use open paints or retarder?

  • @kolet66 Hi! I seldom use a retarder, but I use a fine-mist spray bottle to keep thing wet. I wet the canvas before starting so it's moist. Also, try to find a cool spot to paint and paint fast. Sometimes you cannot help the paint drying too quickly, so I bring a high gloss acrylic varnish to use as a glazing medium, and build it up adding color and brush texture to it. Hope this helps, good luck... try it in your back yard to get the feel. Thanks for watching :-)

  • I like your taste of colors, they show fantastical natural blending.I will keep watching your artistic touch.

  • thank you

  • Great - nice to see not everyone paints on the computer these days.

  • Thank yo... actually I do both but the computer art is for my job.... this is for myself. Thanks for watching
