Hey, I was listening to some oldies and I found this song with a very cool bassline by a great bassist Tony Kanal.
I hope you like, even thought is not metal as my other vids is a cool song and I'm not gonna lie, this kind of music is what I was listening back on 1996! hahaha....

Played through the Bridge Pick up mainly.

  • Not bad, but your right (pick) hand is weak...you're missing a ton of double ups in this song. Regardless, you hit all the changes well.

Try picking from the top pickup and you can use the play in the action to improve your alternate picking.

    Rock on!

  • @johnnydice01 thanks!...

  • is that an old yamaha bass from the 70s

  • yes... An SB700 from the superbass yamaha series 1976-1979 made in japan... :D

  • @4stringMafia I used to feel that way when I was young and dumb. I also use to think Cliff Burton was the best bass player ever (he was good, but nowhere near the top). My advice to you (and your Mafia) is to experiment with all types of plectrum, possibly even a bow You'll be amazed (if you have any inkling of opening your myopic worldview) at the range of tone you can create. BTW - the young man in this video needs to build the power in his pick hand before considering bridge picking.

  • @JerrardGruszecki Well, don't know about the hate, bro. Criticism is necessary to better yourself as a player, but I'm sure you knew that already. BTW - I would give lessons on YouTube if there was some money in it, but as I get paid to give lessons and have a family to support I focus on limiting the bulk of my time to revenue-producing activities. "You're" post and it's trite tone (and bad grammar) says a lot about you. My suggestion? Keep practicing, and possibly take a writing course.

  • @johnnydice01 Real bass players don't use picks. And I feel that the tone of the bass in this song requires playing over the bridge pickup.

  • @johnnydice01 given lessons, studied music, mixed tracks and promoted bands for 25 years ? good thing your on here giving instruction of music ,youtube would be lost if it wasn't for such and accomplished and amazing person with a quarter century of making the musical world a better place

  • @JerrardGruszecki - Hey man, just some constructive criticism. What the hell would I know , anyway, right? I've only played, given lessons, studied music, mixed tracks and promoted bands for 25 years or so...

  • @johnnydice01 shut up fool like your some fucking super bass player who can tell anyone how to play .

  • Wow...... that sounded excellent! I love how your bass sounds..... so deep and alluring! Great job!
