First Person Arts is a Philadelphia-based non-profit dedicated to memoir and documentary art in a variety of forms. The monthly StorySlams are competitive storytelling events. Volunteers are invited to tell a five-minute true story related to each monthly theme and they're scored by volunteer judges in the crowd. Live StorySlams happen every 4th Tuesday at L'Etage Cabaret (6th and Bainbridge, Philadelphia, PA)
Go to http://www.firstpersonarts.org for information about the StorySlams, monthly artist Salons, quarterly food tours, our annual competition, and the world's only Festival of Memoir and Documentary Art every November.
The next StorySlam is Saturday April 18th, part of the Free Library Festival and will feature a storytelling team from Philadelphia vs. one from Chicago in an inter-city rivalry on the theme "Mortified" The event is at the Parkway Central Library's Bank of America Main Stage (AKA Montgomery Auditorium) and admission is FREE.
