Princess A3470086 R.I.P.

One of the most heartbreaking aspects of volunteering at a high intake shelter is that our sense of propriety and ethics are all too often challenged by the cruelty that some people can inflict on pets. Such a case is Princess, a five year old purebred spayed female Rottweiler who was dumped at the Baldwin Park shelter on June 12th. Princess weighed only 41.7 pounds and looked like an Auschwitz survivor. She should have weighed eighty pounds and could barely stand. The shelter immediately started caring for her and watched as she scarfed down some wet food and weakly wagged her tail in appreciation. She was taken to an outside veterinarian and unfortunately died on the morning of June 14th from the effects of systematic starvation. The poor girl had been eating rocks and pieces of scrap metal in a desperate attempt to live. The shelter will recommend that the District Attorney file charges and vigorously prosecute them against her former owner.

I can't stop the tears from rolling. I have a 4yr old female Rotty, so I have a soft spot for them.

I shouldn't swear but I hope the bastards responsible for this are brought to heavy and lengthy justice.

R.I.P. sweet baby girl. I truly hope your owners are prosecuted for this and your suffering and cruel treatment will not have been in vain. I hope the throw the book at this person(s). People need to be made accountable for their actions and need to realize pets are not to be thrown out like Yesterdays trash!!!
