    I'm pretty sure it's the mom, but I don't know of any markings that could tell them apart. Moms are usually the ones that feed the young though.

    Heh... just because you don't like them doesn't make it a nasty noise - :) Grackles have their place, and songbirds have their place, I'm glad we have grackles, they're interesting birds to watch... to *me* anyway - :) That's interesting if that's the male feeding the chicks, I didn't know they stuck around after the chicks hatched!

    Apparently not! I have a shot from last year where a Starling did the same thing - and the kid didn't stop whining until "Momma Starling" fed it... and then she flew off..... and the kid started eating on his own again like he was doing before she came down... :)
