They closed the gates at the top of the penstock, the tube leading the water to the turbine.

Beyond words. The water totally blew that building apart. The power of hydraulic pressure is truely amazing. The only question I have is, why did the water stop flowing? Once the turbine is bown clean out of it's mounting, whats to prevent unimpeded flow of the water?
