  • Bellof tried to pass Ickx up the inside of Eau Rouge at over 180mph. That was an outrageous attempt at a pass which was never going to come off, Eau Rouge has never been wide enough for two cars to go through it side by side. Bellof showed an unbelievable lack of judgement in trying that move, and Ickx was entirely blameless, so to suggest that the accident was Ikcx's fault is simply not true.

  • amazing video... great pilots... good old times !!!

  • The Ferrari 312B should have won 2 or 3 championships, a great mystery of F1 racing?

  • Ickx, Andretti and Regazzoni. Ferrari had a brilliant line-up in 1971.

  • @aford1985 Rodriguez made a great pass on Eau Rouge on a Porsche 917 under wet conditions, have you seen that? It was amazing, epic to say the least.

  • @aford1985 :neither was fault, it was a racing accident, but Bellof was impatiently, but they never drove 180 mph back then, he said himself a day before they reaching speed about 150 mph, but nevertheless very fast! Bellof tried to passing Ickx before Eau Rouge, that is a self-murdering and unneccesary try, but Stefan was such a great talent, what a great loss.... R.I.P. Stefan

  • Saw Jenkinson....

  • At 3:24 there appears to be someone wearing an armband with Stalin on it.

    Eh?

  • Were those Lotus jet cars?

  • @aford1985

I agree. A racing driver must know the his limits and the car's too. Bellof sure had the raw speed but he somehow also believed he could pull off the impossible. Which means he most likely would have died in a crash sooner or later.

  • I was there back in 71 Zandvoort. Very wet race and my hero from the past had won! Thomas

  • @McLarenMercedes Yes I know that 1971 was a lean year for Ferrari, but it was a great win nonetheless as was the 1972 German Grand Prix win. What's your problem anyway? Do you think that since you're a McLaren fan you automatically have to attack a Ferrari fan? If so then you're a douchebag!
