It pisses me right off how Metallica completely copied the riff in this song, and Diamond Head don't even get the credit for it (well, my dad anyway - he wrote 90% of it).

It must be annoying to see a band who started virtually as a DH tribute band become much bigger than them. However, without the support from Metallica over the years DH would not still be going today - I imagine that Brian and Sean do quite well out of the royalties from Garage Inc.

Thanks, I am a pretty big fan. Loads of factors influenced DH's downfall

1) Maiden had Ron Smallwood as manager,DH had Reg Fellows, a local cardboard manufacturer

2)DH didnt sign to a major label quick enough

3)MCA wasnt the label that was right for them

4)Harris' mum was their tour manager

5)changed direction too soon

6)Pressing problems on Canterbury

7) Harris got fed up of metal and wanted to do pop music, if you've heard the unreleased stuff youll know what I mean

Am I Evil, LTTN etc all great but SML is not just the best DH song but one of the best metal songs ever written. Great vocals, terrific riffs and amazin guitar solo. And it sounds not just heavy but beautiful. Could there ever be a better anthem to getting a blow job?! I remember my mother being digusted when she heard me playing it in my room. More than she was by WASPs Fuck Like a Beast! Awesome.

@sleeper141 I'm not sure about that - according to Tatler, Sean was being more than a bit selfish in this regard, which one of the main reasons for Sean no longer singing with Diamond Head.

@metalseed9 No you're right they didn't! but if you listen to another diamond head song "dead reckoning" and the solo section to saxon's princess of the night..you'll hear the influences.

@spaghettilegsjosh don't be mad, a band is a reflection of their influences, im pretty sure diamond head is proud that they played a major role in the sound of metallica, and thrash metal for all that reason, but you gotta understand there was a bunch of bands doing what they did nwobhm, and usually if you are not the first ones, you wont get the credit you deserved, just look at all the thrash bands after metallica, they where unique in their own way, but they were not the first, Diamond Head!!
