It's time for Detroit to reclaim the mantle of transportation innovation. This music video argues that a light rail line running down the middle of Woodward Avenue, "Mainline Option A," will be faster, safer, and more reliable than the side-running alternative, "Mainline Option B." Let's bring the trains down the middle! Tell it to the feds by March 14: take a moment to submit a comment to woodwardlightrail@detroitmi.gov. See TransportMichigan.org for more information.

  • YES !

  • There is not enough demand for light rail at this point. Maybe in 20 years. Improve the bus service first, then have a talk about building billion dollar rail lines.

  • @shroomhead27 the developers are just mistaken, and think that side-running will increase their profits. They're jut not listening to the planners!

  • This seems Legit....

  • Part of Boston's system is also down the middle and it works great.

  • DON'T EVEN BUILD IT! They don't even cover their daily costs, much less pay back the capital investment.

  • I have the Pizzeria car shown at :53 as well as the town monorail set.

  • Wouldn't a stop in the middle bring the same development and a better environment? Why would a business want people waiting right outside there door all day? Why would you want trains on your doorstep? I don't understand what the investors are thinking.

  • The streetcars in Richmond VA had their own privet rights of ways in the 1920's that ran down the center of the streets in fact the streets they ran down where extra wide so there could be four lanes for cars and two lanes for streetcars

  • I think down the middle is best and that the route should hook up with the Rosa Parks Bus Terminal to support other public transportation in Detroit including our bus system and the people mover...
