Chapter 27; Part two
Soundcheck ended fast. Everyone just chilled out and waited for the openers to finish. Joe started doing his routine push-ups and then Kacy sat on his back. He continued with the push-ups.
Kacy: Damn Joe, I must say you're strength is very sexy.
Joe: You're not even that heavy; how is this impressive at all?
Kacy: I just said you're strength was sexy? Why are you defending your sexy-ness?
Joe: I'm just saying I could do more to impress you; that's all.
Kacy: *weirdly* alright, fine then?
Manager: Boys; you're on in 5. Let's get moving.
Soon enough the show was on a roll; the boys had finished the first half of their set and Kevin was heading over to where Deena was watching backstage. He grabbed her hand in his and pulled her out into the open, sat her down by the drums and walked over to the Mic. Joe cracked a joke before he got there; saying something about "fan girls get your cameras out."
Kevin: About 20 years ago this wonderful girl walked into my life, before she could even crawl. We've been best friends since we were born, and as you can see now we're a lot more than that. Deena, you mean the world to me baby, and I love you; unconditionally, and no matter what. I'll help you get that new number, and we'll take care of that "Craig" problem. Just know that I'll always be here for you. I love you, and that's not going away.
He took a few steps to pick up his acoustic guitar Deena had given him for his birthday one year. He started playing her favorite tune and her face lit up and she started tearing.
Kevin: *singing*
Cant you see that its just raining
Aint no need to go outside...
But Baby, You hardly even notice
When I try to show you this
Song is meant to keep ya
From doing what your supposed to
Like waking up too early
Maybe we can sleep in
Ill make you banana pancakes
Pretend like its the weekend now
And we could pretend it all the time
Cant you see that its just raining
Aint no need to go outside
But just maybe, laka ukulele
Mommy made a baby
Really don't mind the practice
Cause your my little lady
Lady lady love me
Cause I love to lay here lazy
We could close the curtains
Pretend like there's no world outside
And we could pretend it all the time
Cant you see that its just raining
Aint no need to go outside
Aint no need aint no need Mmmm MMmmm
Cant you see cant you see
Rain all day
And I don't mind.
The telephone is singing
Ringing its too early
Don't pick it up
We don't need to we got everything
We need right here
And everything we need is enough
Just so easy
When the whole world fits inside of your arms
Don't really need to pay attention to the alarm
Wake up slow, yeah wake up slow
You hardly even notice
When I try to show you this
Song is meant to keep ya
From doing what your supposed to
Like waking up too early
Maybe we can sleep in
Ill make you banana pancakes
Pretend like its the weekend now
And we could pretend it all the time
Can't you see that it's just raining
Aint no need to go outside
Aint no need, Aint no need
Rain all day and I really really really don't mind
Can't you see cant you see,
You gotta wake up slow
As Kevin wrapped up the song, Deena was in full-fledged silent tears.
No one in the audience got it; they didn't understand why she was crying because of a song that Kevin didn't even write.
Deena walked over to him; positively bawling and was consumed in the biggest hug ever. Then Kevin did something she would've never expected. He leaned forward and kissed her, in front of everyone. And as I think I've mentioned before; he wasn't one for PDA.
Deena: *whispering to Kevin* Can I say something to everyone?
Kevin: *whispering* sure, go right ahead.
Deena: *into microphone* Okay, let me just say, you all look completely confused. You're all like, "Erm, she's freaking out and he didn't even write that... did he?" No he didn't, but that's my favorite song of all time. Its Banana Pancakes by Jack Johnson. It means a lot, more than I'll ever be able to explain. I didn't know this was supposed to happen, Kevin surprised me. Big time. *Turning to Kevin, looking him right in the face.* I love you too babycakes. Thanks so much. *Turning back to face the audience* And now; the rest of your show with the Jonas Brothers! Have fun kids!
