I just got a second HTC HD2 and it doesnt seem to have the touchscreen failure like my old HTC HD2 i sent back two time.
But i have noticed it has a different screen. You can see pretty bright dots on it which are not that visible on the old screen. If that is true HTC nows about the failure but doesnt tell people.
Both HD2s have the same ROM (1.66.407.1) and beeing set up the same way. The up to date HD2s seem to be shippid with the fine working display but i only can assume.

Maybe my open questions get answered with the time on the following XDA DEVs thread:

  • I got my HD2 on Jan 28th and it didn't have the screen problem which you are refering too.

  • thanks for your answer :)

it seems that HTC gets controll about the failure. The adress of service has also changed (at least in germany you now have to send it to a special person). and my fith try still looks good.

  • I alos sent my device back for repair ... I hope it comes back with the new screen :)

I hate it, that htc does not call the faulty devices back.

but it might be cheaper for them that way.

the recal lthem would mean, that all dealers might have to give the money back to the customers.... if they do not recall the phones, maybe only 50 % are affected from which mybe only 20 % are sent back .... in those cases they only need to change one part .not the whole phone . cheaper than that i cannont be

  • not sure but is it possible that you are also on xda devs? i remember this post :P

  • i dont believe htc uses a new touchscreen at new devices, i think there were one or two bad screens! i already had 3 HD2s in my hands and no one had this screenbugs!

  • maybe my thrid replacement will work xD gonna report about it when its done
