Reading the comments here, why doesn't anyone point out that the Democrats had priors in treating Republican appointments in the manner of making complete fabrications and sensationalism: Robert Bork. In fact, some "civil rights leaders" deliberately said things like, "We need to bork Clarence Thomas"? In light of that, how can something like this even be entertained as being truth when no slight of Justice Thomas's character was ever revealed? Clinton had numerous accusers.

Or, take an in depth history lesson to learn that indeed the parties have not changed in their fundamental beliefs. The economic philosophies are the same, which guide the way each does business and in turn attracts and repels adherents based on their perceived interests. Only the demographic appeals have changed, as was inevitable. That will (probably) shift again in due time, a generation or two. Thomas had much to say here, but vitually nothing since he's sat on the Supreme court. Why is this so? George H.W. Bush (at this time) called him the "most qualified" person to sit on the court.
