All the flashback scenes from the third episode of "Smallville" season 8, "Toxic," are recollected in this 10 minute origin of the Green Arrow.

It should be noted that this is the very first time that the Green Arrow's origin has been done in a live action medium. Previous visually told origins include two animated features. One was in the Kid's WB cartoon "The Batman" in thats fifth season episode "Vertigo," and the other was the mobile phone "Smallville Legends: Oliver Queen" mini-series, which should be noted as to being extrememly different than this, thus answering the long held question "are the Smallville Legends minis canonical within the Smallville timeline?" with a resounding "No!"

The Island origin, itself, has been retold a number of times in the comics, but the most recent, and currently canonical telling of it was the 6 part mini-series entitled "Green Arrow: Year One." This mini-series can be found in a collected trade at the DC Comics' offical website, here: http://dccomics.com/dcu/graphic_novels/?gn=8823

  • My only complaint is how freakin young Ollie is. CLARK ISN'T EVEN SUPERMAN YET

  • @VsxFedora I don't understand... you're complaining about Ollie's age as being too young, but he's at least five years older than Clark (being the same age as Lex was, as they went to school together), and Clark is... what? 24 this season? It being the sixth season after the season in which he graduated? Truth be told... I think their ages are pretty spot on... Aquaman, Cyborg, and BART Allen on the other hand... they're ages are all screwed the frak up.

  • was the bad guy the same actor as the computer hacker in leverage if so he's got more range

    than i thought he did

  • Smallville is not the origin of the green arrow....... Green arrow was created in 1941 and was published by DC comics.

  • 2:36 trademark Robin Hood shot. SO badass!

  • Me the entire time: O.O he's shirtless... XD

  • Looking forward to the new 'Green Arrow' series. Just hope it actually gets picked up, unlike Aquaman.

  • on an island for two years. as awesome as green arrow is i don't think he could cut his hair with archery...

  • he's soooo gorgeous!

  • This is great!

  • @janthony227 Even in the comics it was established in Green Arrow: Year One that he learned archery when he was younger, but that the actual events that led him to become Green Arrow mostly happened on an island.

So he may have learned archery when he was a kid, but he learned to use it as a hero in a very similar way to what this video shows.

  • Are you sure this is the origin story? In season six they had a green arrow mini sieres he got his first bow from his parents. How do you know he didn't already have arrow skills but became rusty by the time he had come to the island? I mean if I were stuck on an island I would think of making a spear before thinking of a bow and arrow unless I had skills with a bow and arrow.

idk do you understand what im trying to say?
