Make sure you are cleaning the BBQ when it has cooled down, we feel the need to say this as a public service announcement.

There really is a lot to know about cleaning your Q. You need to know your type of grills (stainless steel, cast iron or enamelled), what kind of gas you use (propane or gas hookup) and that's just the beginning. The video walks you through some tools and some demos, the blog goes into great detail.

I spent a lot of time speaking with BBQ experts to get the info, and reviewed a lot of user guides for different brand BBQs, so take this as well-researched info.

I'm jealous that you can use and clean your BBQ in January. It was -23 Celsius with the windchill today in Toronto. Just sayin'.

How do you clean a humidifier? My furnace has a metal humidifier skid that is covered with a huge amount of scale. Any ideas how to clean it? I have tried CLR and Lime Away but that has done much of anything.

Vinegar is the secret - it is a great descaler. If you can find 'full strength vinegar' you are in even better shape (6%).

In Australia, we pour beer on the grill/plate, turn it up as hot as it goes, and then get all the crap off with a scraper and bits of newspaper. Works wonders!

Hmmm....I have never tackled that before. I would have recommended a descaler. How long did you let it soak for? Sometimes things need a long time to soak, like a day or 2. My other suggestion, if it's really bad, is to perhaps replace it?
