Cato's executive vice president David Boaz has played a key role in the development of the Cato Institute and the libertarian movement. He is a provocative commentator and a leading authority on domestic issues such as education choice, drug legalization, the growth of government, and the rise of libertarianism. He is the author of Libertarianism: A Primer, described by the Los Angeles Times as "a well-researched manifesto of libertarian ideas," the editor of The Libertarian Reader, and coeditor of the Cato Handbook on Policy . Boaz is the former editor of New Guard magazine and was executive director of the Council for a Competitive Economy prior to joining Cato in 1981. His articles have been published in the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, National Review, and Slate. He is a frequent guest on national television and radio shows, and has appeared on ABC's Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher, CNN's Crossfire, NPR's Talk of the Nation and All Things Considered, John McLaughlin's One on One, Fox News Channel, BBC, Voice of America, Radio Free Europe, and other media. His latest book, The Politics of Freedom, will be published in February.

  • Ron Paul IS RIGHT... My parents are both cops, and through college I studied psychology and criminal justice, law school in the fall... Drugs SHOULD be legalized. It sounds crazy but here's the thing.

In the US... nearly 1/2 of the population has smoked marijuana. In countries where marijuana is legal the usage rate is about 1/5. By making it illegal, kids have much easier access as drug dealers don't id. If you don't use as a child or teen, the lower chance later in life - less crime

  • beck is a clown...i like 50% of his views and exposure of some elitist plans.

but his you must have sizzle with the steak is his philosophy not Ron Pauls. Ron Paul is all about SUBSTANCE !!! beck is all about ratings and has a small libertarian fetus inside him developing i believe.

americans are fucked if we only want the cover and not what the book actually is.

  • Beck clamors to only the most obvious, forgetting that the candy coated candidates are normally worthless. Founding fathers would never have made it in this environment, anyways.

  • Mayor of Crazy Town? Based on what? All the clown music doesn't change the logic of Paul's positions. Paul's comments are all lucid and dead on, it's why many are suspicious of Beck!

  • Beck is a neocon jackass

  • total scum Beck is crap

  • The only way you would possibly vote Obama again is if Sara Palin runs. So she is going to run.

  • Glenn Beck is a neo-conservative asswipe. As is much of the Republican Party. The GOP of today is dominated by Evangelicals, neo-cons and crass populism. The GOP lost one member when they fielded Sarah Palin was a VP candidate. That was the last fucking outrage. I'm staying independent until that party gets its act together.

  • I don't think Ron Paul would abolish the CIA or FBI. National defense and the criminal justice system (prisons, police) are the main and only justification for a government. The CIA would still exist but in a much more limited capacity...i.e. they would stop fucking around all over the world and pissing people off (killing, fixing elections, overthrowing elected officials), which is what caused all this anti-USA shit around the world in the first place.

  • Amen brother!

  • I'm quite sure Ron Paul could a much better job than what we see now and in the past few years. Also, what we have had for the FBI and the CIA needs a new regime as well as Washington,DC.Bush always was saying Iraq needed a new regime .the US needs a new regime.Incidently,no Bilderberg or Scull&Bones members allowed.
