What you doubters are not considering is that the reverser can also see the patterns using the software, and while each speaker's voices, inflection, dialect etc. all contribute to how they enunciate in reverse, seeing the graph of the audio helps establish what the word is as patterns do tend to repeat for certain words.
But that's just an opinion since I have zero training. Maybe if I'd said that out loud and reversed it, we could hear my reversal "I 'm just talking out of my ass." :-D
