This piece was a commission for my High School conductor's retirement. James Black was a huge influence on my becoming a musician. He was my first cello teacher, a lover of Blazing Saddles, a fantastic violinist, a great teacher, and a hilarious comedian. I believe he now lives in Arizona and fly's airplanes, and golfs in his spare time. I'll never forget him.

  • was with BG orchestra in the early 90's we did pieces like this in jr high and sounded alot better and in tune and together as a group.

  • thats great. I remember Tom Hageman quite fondly. He turned me onto Tom Waits, and Blazing Saddles.

  • So that was James Black? We now have Kevan Kosobayashi, he's pretty good.

  • I had wanted to meet him when I was back in Illinois a few months ago, but I never found the time. How is the orchestra?

  • You look great with that short hair, and that perfectly fitting tux.

  • Thanks, I look even better now
